Calves are getting bigger and momma isn't giving as much milk as the calves would like. The calf's only alternative is to eat grass, but it is too small to digest very much of it therefore the calf's growth will be limited to how much milk momma gives.

If you have been creep feeding calves, they are probably eating 4 to 5 lbs. by now. Hopefully the feed you're offering is Cattle Charge, which means your calves look great. Calves will continue to increase their feed all through weaning. The rule of thumb is that you will get an extra 75 to100 lbs. gain for 500 lbs. of Cattle Charge fed.

On the other hand if you would rather keep your calves eating at 4 to 5 lbs. per head per day and not get any higher intakes for the rest of the summer, then change to Trendsetter SLR. The calves should be about 400 lbs. at this time. The calves will nurse momma for what she has to offer, then eat Trendsetter SLR to 1% of their body weight, eating less grass. The consumption of the Trendsetter SLR will be from several feedings similar to the number of times a calf sucks his or her momma.

If you haven't been creep feeding start calves on Cattle Charge until they're eating 4 to 5 lbs. Then change to TrendSetter SLR. The consumption will be controlled to where you won't have a big feed bill. Calves will gain better, be healthier, still consume grass and nurse momma for all she is worth.

Furthermore watch your cattle and you will see that they will shed out better, not stand in the pond and not lose the switch of their tail.

Feed Trendsetter SLR until weaning. At weaning put calves on Cattle Charge for 10 to 14 days. Their consumption will increase to 10 to12 lbs. on Cattle Charge. After 2 weeks of Cattle Charge change back to Trendsetter SLR. Intake will drop to 5 to 6 lbs.

If you wants more gain than 1 lb. per day at 5 to 6 lbs. of Trendsetter SLR them mix Trendsetter SLR with corn or by-products. If you mix corn or by-products half and half with Trendsetter SLR, cattle will eat 2% of their body weight.

Trendsetter SLR will improve the digestibility of the corn or by products by keeping them in the rumen longer and also by controlling the intake. The intake will be under control, and even more important, cattle never eat very much at any one time. Instead, they eat several meals per day.
